Discover UK sustainable fashion and beauty at Manchester Arndale!

Whether you’re tentatively dipping your toes into sustainable fashion or have been championing green brands for a while now, Manchester Arndale has something for every eco-minded shopper – but where do you start in a shopping centre with over 200 stores?!

Let’s start with sustainable fashion definition. It’s a term describing efforts within the fashion industry and sustainability to reduce its environmental impacts.

In a city buzzing with eclectic and individual style, it’s hard to find that perfect balance between style and mindfulness. That’s why we’ve selected 10 of the best sustainable fashion brands in our centre, so you can find ‘fits that are a bit friendlier to the planet and discover beauty sustainability options that are as kind to the environment as they are to you.

At the top of our list of sustainable fashion companies is Nike. Nike are on a big journey towards zero carbon, zero waste and a more responsible future. Through their Move To Zero initiative, the brand is making significant strides in sourcing, processing and manufacturing materials more responsibly. The result? Styles that you know and love (think Air Force, Dunks and more!) that are made from at least 25% recycled content.

The North Face

Sustainability isn’t a side project for The North Face, it’s central to everything they do. With their circular system, The North Face keep their gear out of landfills by taking previously owned products and reusing the raw materials to create new products like their recycled down jackets.

It’s one thing buying smarter, but the next step is to make that purchase last. Moss’s Reda range creates traceable-wool suits, precisely tailored with merino wool cloth that’s transparently made with care for the planet, its people and its resources. These pieces are specifically designed with quality in mind so not only do they look good, but they also last longer.

River Island

Be kinder to the plant and get reward with River Island in three easy steps:

  1. Package up and drop off your pre-loved clothes at our Manchester Arndale store
  2. The team will check it over ready for it to be resold or recycled by their partner Reskinned.
  3. They’ll give you a £5 voucher to use the next time you shop!

Having great style doesn’t have to cost us the Earth. Levi is one of the best sustainable fashion brands at the minute – their expert tailors can help make the clothes you love last longer or even transform them into something new entirely. Visit their store inside Manchester Arndale to repair, reimagine and recycle your favourite Levi items.

Want £5 off new shoes? Of course you do! Look out for Schuh’s Sell Your Soles initiative available at their Market Street store. Simply bring any old, unwanted or outgrown shoes and the lovely team will recycle them – they don’t even need to be from schuh! In return, you’ll get a £5 voucher to redeem in store or online. We love to see it!

Dr. Martens

Want to look good while doing good things for your wardrobe? Well Dr. Martens prioritize creating quality products that’ll last a lifetime. They maximise the longevity of each pair of boots through the creation of timeless, hardwearing, repairable footwear so less products end up in landfills. Win-win!

The Body Shop

Why waste a container when you can refill it! The Body Shop is one of the best sustainable beauty brands around and the team here are on a mission to empower customers to embrace the circular economy with their refill station. Switching to get your favorite haircare, shower gel and handwash through the refill station helps reduce single use plastics. And refilling isn’t just better for the planet – it’s better for your wallet too, because you get more bang for your buck (each refill contains an extra 50ml free!).

TK Maxx

Had a good olclear out? TK Maxx’s Give Up Clothes For Good campaign invites customers to donate their pre-loved and gently used fashion and homeware to their TK Maxx store on Market Street. These items are then sold by charities like Cancer Research UK to raise funds for research into children’s and young people’s cancers.

Got old gear?  Channel sustainable vibes with Superdry this summer with their Vintage Streetwear & Repurposed section instore. Find vintage Superdry products and even pre-loved pieces from other brands like Nike and Adidas, all sourced reputable re-sellers.

Let us know if you try our any of these ranges and tag us in your planet friendly ‘fits over on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok! You don’t have to sacrifice style to shop responsibly as our high street brands are really stepping up their game to bring you fashion that’s not only fabulous but also kinder to the environment.
