Happy World Vegan day! To celebrate, we’ve visited a range of our food outlets to sample their vegan offerings and bring you a round-up our favourite vegan delights. The things we do for you!
Whether you’re committing to a permanent lifestyle change or just taking Meat Free Monday to another level, veganism is sweeping through the streets of Manchester.
It can still be a struggle to find vegan-friendly places to eat, and when going out for a bite to eat with friends, picking a place that accommodates all dietary requirements can be tricky!
Here are our recommendations for places to eat right here that will solve the problem, meaning that vegans, vegetarians, meat-eaters, fussy eaters, fire eaters and everything in between, can all eat at the same table. Happy days!
1. Bella Italia
Bella Italia offers a selection of fine Italian dishes that will have your taste buds tingling, with an exciting range of dishes just for vegans. We couldn’t wait to get stuck in, so ordered the Bruschetta with Tomato and Rocket. This kept us quiet for 5 minutes before the main event: PIZZA. Now we know vegan cheese gets a lot of bad press, but believe us when we say that Bella Italia got the recipe locked down! Surely this is real cheese!?
If you’re not in the mood for Pizza (If that’s possible?) hearty pasta dishes include Risotto Funghi, Lentil Ragu or the Vegetable Spaghetti, all bursting with flavour and nourishing minerals and vitamins. So you don’t have to feel guilty about devouring your dish and licking the plate clean. (We might have done that-just for research purposes)
Or if Pasta isn’t really your thing, you can always rely on the Vegan Burger, filled with Cannellini beans, garlic & Mediterranean veg herb, accompanied by salsa verde…yummy!
2. Nandos
Up next is Nandos, a family favourite who recently took the initiative to boost their vegan menu (about time!). Cynics and chicken lovers out there may moan, but we can honestly say that the vegan options are just as finger-lickin’ good as anything else on the menu. Trust us- try the Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash burger and you’ll see what we mean.
3. Eat
Mornings can often be rushed and hectic, and healthy vegan food can be hard to grab on the go. Not if you make a visit to Eat.
“Breakfast goals” were practically invented in this place, try the Coconut & Quinoa Porridge and you’ll see what we mean. Hot, creamy and sweet and good for you – we’re obsessed.
We’ve also been guilty of nipping in for a mid-day snack too, Exhibit A: The Dairy Free Mango & Coconut Chai Pot. A little pot of pure joy when you need an afternoon boost.
4. Taco Bell
Now Mexican food isn’t the first cuisine you think of when on the search for vegan food; however, Taco Bell now caters for all different types of diets. With high demand for both veggie and vegan options, Taco Bell added a few moderations to their existing menu, giving customers the ability to create their own, customised dishes. The Crunchwrap Supreme has previously been dominated by seasoned beef, sour cream and nacho cheese, however now you can replace these items with a variety of different beans, and add a range of fresh salad and guacamole.
So there you have it, four great restaurants at Manchester Arndale serving the best vegan food in all the land.
We’re currently bursting at the seams after stuffing our faces trying all the food, but we can honestly say that it was worth it!
So there’s really no need to travel to the depths of Italy, or venture across the ocean to Central America, just pop into Manchester Arndale and we’ll sort you out!
